FOUR FLAPPERS
24x36" gallery canvas 1.5" deep
various acrylics over a heavily textured surface

I love history! The 1920’s flapper era was quite unique in history because they were the FIRST generation of independent American women. Flappers embraced freedom, empowerment and fun - to the point that some viewed them as dangerous, outrageous and immoral. They pushed the barriers and sexual freedom for women which was threatening to some. And, good for them!
This large, textured piece has a lot of detail close up and her gaze seems to follow you around the room. She’d be great hanging up in a vintage, speakeasy type of bar either in a private residence or a public business. The design would render well on a craft beer label, so if you’re a brewer looking for a cool label - contact me and we'll work something out!

The biggies series are painted on a heavily textured surface. While it takes extra time to paint on this challenging surface, it adds a unique dimension to the finished work. The first practice pieces were urban scenes, but going forward these pieces are a celebration of womanhood and powerful feminine energy.
